Goals for 2013

I don’t have too many big goals for 2013.  I think surviving 3 kids 3 and under is going to be my main focus.  But there are a few things that I want to squeeze into my 2013 schedule as well.

1. Get back to my pre-pregnancy weight by June 25.  June 25, 2012 was the day I found out I was pregnant.  So I feel it is fitting to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight by that day.  This is going to be hard, but I’m already feeling very motivated to achieve it!

2. Spiritual study every day.  I use to do a physical/spiritual update every time I blogged.  I’m going to bring back the spiritual now, and physical too even though it will be very small things until I can work out again in March/April.  This will mostly include scripture study and conference talks, but I also want to read some church history and Ensign articles.

3. Spend more quality time with Hubby.  I need advice on this one.  I feel like by the time we put the kids down for bed in the evenings, we are so exhausted (especially now that I’m huge) that we just watch TV together for a little while and then go to bed.  I would like to find things to do together besides watch TV at night.  And make sure we go on a date once a week, which may require that we start paying babysitters.  We’re not big on board games, we’ve tried that.  Maybe cooking together?…  ?????

And that’s about it for 2013.  I will be super happy if I can make all three of these happen.

Physical: I’m 33 weeks along now and not showing any signs of labor, what a miracle and blessing!  I feel like it is safe to do little things to keep my muscles not so flimsy.  Today I did 3 sets of 10 tricep dips.  Sadly, it burned pretty dang bad!  This spring is going to be brutal!

Spiritual: “Because I Live, Ye Shall Live Also.” by Elder Shayne M. Bowen of the Seventy.

Love this scripture: “But little children are alive in Christ, even from the foundation of the world; if not so, God is a partial God, and also a changeable God, and a respecter to persons; for how many little children have died without baptism!”1

President Joseph Smith said, “The Lord takes many away, even in infancy, that they may escape the envy of man, and the sorrows and evils of this present world; they were too pure, too lovely, to live on earth; therefore, if rightly considered, instead of mourning we have reason to rejoice as they are delivered from evil, and we shall soon have them again.”

This talk is a lot about loosing a child.  I have had loved ones go through such a loss and can’t completely comprehend their pain.  I hope this talk brought them some comfort.

“Remember as you attended the funeral of your loved one the feelings in your heart as you drove away from the cemetery and looked back to see that solitary casket—wondering if your heart would break.

I testify that because of Him, even our Savior, Jesus Christ, those feelings of sorrow, loneliness, and despair will one day be swallowed up in a fulness of joy. I testify that we can depend on Him and when He said:

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

“Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.”

  1. Sounds like an incredible year ahead…a mom of three!! You’re going to rock it. 🙂 And I’m with you on the goal of spending more quality time with our husbands. It’s SO good for the relationship…and as the littles get older I want them to see that we work at our relationship and we love each other. ❤
